Bear Claw Music's newest artist acquisition, Lily McCabe brings a whole new dimension to the music BCM offers. An artist with impeccable talent, she is a violin maven. She performs many styles of music, which is why she is a perfect fit for Bear Claw Music's roster. Lily is a brilliant vocalist in her own right. We look forward to working with her and getting presenters across North American as excited about her as we are.

Lily McCabe grew up in the Appalachian mountains of upstate NY, listening to the sounds of Bluegrass, Celtic, Folk, and Latin music to name a few. Alison Krauss was her primary inspiration to start learning “fiddle,” but at the age of seven she began a 10-year journey in classical training. The skills she acquired during this time proved invaluable. Her beautiful tone and competent technique combined with a fiddle playerʼs highly discerning ear give her a unique, well-rounded and versatile skill set.

In 2006, she began performing with various folk artists in the Hudson Valley area, and shared stages with the likes of Pete Seeger and Dar Williams. After moving to California in 2009, her music career continued to expand. She became second violinist in the legendary band the “Arias Troubadours,” performing early era California music for the oldest outdoor drama in the United States and the state play of California, the Ramona Pageant. Since the passing of lead violinist Alfonso Arias in 2011, she has assumed his responsibility and is now lead violinist. She has done recording work for numerous local artists, and in 2012 recorded for season 7 American Idol runner up Shaun Cannon on the hit song “Live for Music” which has currently received almost one million hits on YouTube.

Since moving to the beautiful and very musical town of Idyllwild, she has joined a local band called “Jazzgrass” which opened for a benefit concert performed by Leann Rimes in 2012. She has most recently joined internationally recognized guitar wizards Don Alder and Keith Knight to form Trio Montreal, in a unique mix of acoustic, bluegrass, folk, and gypsy jazz all performed in a well-packaged concert.

More to come.
